Writing Weird
Everyone is tired of reading about supernatural creatures and paranormal phenomena described over and over again in the same exact way. Slow-moving zombies? Vampires who sleep in coffins? Werewolves who hate cats? (Yawn) Luckily, authors are tired of the same regurgitations, too!
My blog explores how authors are re-imagining the supernatural and paranormal. In other words, I examine how authors diverge from traditional tropes and stereotypical monsters to keep their writing weird. Each post dissects how an author reinvents the weird within a particular story (while avoiding spoilers).
Whether you’re a writer looking for inspiration on writing weird or a reader looking for some weird writing, Writing Weird has something for you.
Links
Amazon is super convenient and used bookstores are cheap, but I firmly believe in supporting authors and independent bookstores. If you can’t shop locally, the purchase links I provide in each post are my affiliate links to Bookshop: a website that connects readers to independent bookstores. Below is my curated list of the books discussed in this blog.
